It's summer....

And I don't have anything exciting to say.

I'm working full time at the hospital. We just opened our new building. Yeah, it is pretty amazing! :D

I'm having trouble sleeping...

So I just stay on the internet all night. It's getting pretty boring actually. It must be boring if I have posted on here more than twice in like a year :D.

I turn 21 in a couple of weeks. I think it would be a much more exciting event if I drank. It is still pretty cool though because I like getting birthday money!

It's been a while...

I forgot that I even had a blog... It's not like anyone reads it. Sometimes it is nice to have a place to write something though.

I changed my major. AGAIN! This is my 4th major since I have been in college. I'm pretty awesome, or indecisive. I'm getting a bachelor of health science degree, and hopefully going to go to grad school to get a masters in public health after that. Much better fit for me. I've had a terrible semester, but I think with this change things might start going better.

I withdrew from some classes, so I am only taking 12 credit hours now. I have more time to deal with some personal and health issues. I didn't get into nursing school- the average accepted GPA was 3.82. WHAT THE HELL!!! Crazy! I mean it is a BSN program, but still. I have a 3.5 GPA, which is still pretty good. Oh well. I also learned this semester than pneumonia can kick your ass and sneak up on you pretty damn fast. Apparently actually, when you have a cold for over a month, it probably isn't a cold. Who knew. :S. Topamax is apparently a wonder drug! It has worked wonders for me, oh... other than the fact that it has made me a total dumbass. I think there are days that I don't even know my own name. Lol. Anyway, I'm being optimistic... things are getting better. They are. They must be. :)

I am going to graduate on time. By on time I mean at the time I would have originally graduated. Spring of 2011. I am pretty excited about that. I am making a grad plan next week.

Well, that's about it. I will post again in a few months. Haha

Getting discouraged...

So every time I start a new migraine abortive, I get really excited and am just sure it will work. Not so much. Figured out yesterday that Zomig has zero effect on me. Not only does that mean this is the third triptan that hasn't worked, but I also wasted $136 at the pharmacy the other day. So cool... NOT!

Why do I always pick the wrong line?

I decided to buy some new khaki pants from target today. I get up to the front of the store and realize that only two of the lines are open. There are about 3 people in each line. It seems simple enough, shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I pick the one closest to me. The cashier is a little younger, and I am hoping she will talk less.

Oh man am I wrong. She has something to say about almost every item she rings up. Seriously?!?!?!?! I have somewhere to be, thank you. Don't get the wrong idea now, I used to work retail myself, I know that they tell you to talk to the customers. I also know that it gets really boring, but wtf... 20 minutes in line to buy ONE freaking pair of pants is so not cool. AHHHHH!!!!

Because of the snow...

I spent most of the day yesterday working on my application/resume/personal essay for clinicals. I think they are starting to look pretty good. If only I could ge some job shadowing on my resume.

SNOW...AHHH

We were only supposed to get an inch of snow, I bet there's at least 6 inches. YUCK!

2009 in Review

Sometimes I am not sure that I want to remember this past year, but here goes nothing...

January was the start of my fourth semester of college for me. At the time I was a meteorology major. I was taking Calc 3 and calculus based physics at the same time, among some other classes. I enjoyed it at first. I also managed to somehow have a $1500 doctors visit that was supposed to get me cleared to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I ended up with the bill, but still had my wisdom teeth.

February wasn't really special as far as I can tell. I was struggling with physics though.

March resulted in me racking up even more medical bills and becoming more broke... it was the month that I found out about the $1500 bill. On the bright side, I had lost about 20 pounds (which I later gained back)! I flew for the first time on my own.

April was the wonderful month in which I realized I didn't want to be a meteorologist, but instead a nurse!!! I changed my major and was subsequently MUCH happier. I had a REALLY hard time doing any work in my classes though

May was mostly good. My birthday was May 2nd! School ended a couple of weeks later. I got my first C ever, it was in physics (I think I failed every test, so I was actually pretty happy about it). I got my wisdom teeth pulled while I was awake... EEK!!!! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though. My regular dentist did it since the oral surgeon wouldn't.

In June I got my first job of the summer. I worked in a small internal medicine office. I got take a few patients to their rooms so that was pretty neat!!! I also went to Tennessee with my family! I also started this blog.

July was the start of my second job of the summer. I worked at a slaughterhouse, owned by my family.

In August I moved into my first apartment ever and started my first semester as a nursing student.

September didn't really have any big events or anything. Racked up even more medical bills... FUN! Haha, NOT!

October and November were when I started to realize that I wasn't doing that well in school and I got really stressed. It resulted in so many migraines. Like two or three times a week. Which just resulted in my grades getting worse and worse.

December was kind of a new start! I salvaged my grades as much as possible. I got an A in nursing, A- in biology, B in psychology and microbiology, and a C+ in physiology. Not too terrible for taking. I missed Christmas day because I had a horrible migraine. I mean I really don't think that is a fun way to spend Christmas. I also took $60 worth of imitrex. Merry freaking Christmas. Actually, the rest of the holiday season was pretty nice. Oh yeah, I spent multiple hours on the phone with United Healthcare because my dad was trying to get us new insurance. They denied us... SUCKAGE!

What I am looking forward to in 2010...

  • Passage of Healthcare reform.... something that might actually make a difference.
  • Hopefully getting into nursing school
  • Finding some nurses to shadow
  • Re-losing the 20 pounds that I lost last year (that would take my BMI from overweight to normal :D)
  • Getting my blood pressure under control
  • Riding my new bicycle as much as possible (I live near the Katy Trail)
  • Getting better grades next semester
My apartment!

Getting close to the end of the semester!

I'm really happy because it is almost the end of the semester. I can even deal with all of the extra work that comes with this time of the year, because I will soon have a one month long break. No work, no school, just relaxation.

I talked to my adviser yesterday about applying for clinicals next semester. She seems to think that I am in pretty good shape. I want to believe her, I really do. I just think that a guarantee would be nice. Then again there are no guarantees in life, right?

I haven't kept up with this silly thing lately. I guess 18 hours is catching up with me.

I could have been on people of wal-mart

I got up this morning and realized that my outfit would have been perfect for peopleofwalmart. I was wearing pink plaid pajama pants and a light blue tank top that is a size too small. It would have made a great picture!

It's Thanksgiving break, so maybe I will get a chance to write more.
