Sometimes I am not sure that I want to remember this past year, but here goes nothing...
January was the start of my fourth semester of college for me. At the time I was a meteorology major. I was taking Calc 3 and calculus based physics at the same time, among some other classes. I enjoyed it at first. I also managed to somehow have a $1500 doctors visit that was supposed to get me cleared to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I ended up with the bill, but still had my wisdom teeth.
February wasn't really special as far as I can tell. I was struggling with physics though.
March resulted in me racking up even more medical bills and becoming more broke... it was the month that I found out about the $1500 bill. On the bright side, I had lost about 20 pounds (which I later gained back)! I flew for the first time on my own.
April was the wonderful month in which I realized I didn't want to be a meteorologist, but instead a nurse!!! I changed my major and was subsequently MUCH happier. I had a REALLY hard time doing any work in my classes though
May was mostly good. My birthday was May 2nd! School ended a couple of weeks later. I got my first C ever, it was in physics (I think I failed every test, so I was actually pretty happy about it). I got my wisdom teeth pulled while I was awake... EEK!!!! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though. My regular dentist did it since the oral surgeon wouldn't.
In
June I got my first job of the summer. I worked in a small internal medicine office. I got take a few patients to their rooms so that was pretty neat!!! I also went to Tennessee with my family! I also started this blog.
July was the start of my second job of the summer. I worked at a slaughterhouse, owned by my family.
In
August I moved into my first apartment ever and started my first semester as a nursing student.
September didn't really have any big events or anything. Racked up even more medical bills... FUN! Haha, NOT!
October and November were when I started to realize that I wasn't doing that well in school and I got really stressed. It resulted in so many migraines. Like two or three times a week. Which just resulted in my grades getting worse and worse.
December was kind of a new start! I salvaged my grades as much as possible. I got an A in nursing, A- in biology, B in psychology and microbiology, and a C+ in physiology. Not too terrible for taking. I missed Christmas day because I had a horrible migraine. I mean I really don't think that is a fun way to spend Christmas. I also took $60 worth of imitrex. Merry freaking Christmas. Actually, the rest of the holiday season was pretty nice. Oh yeah, I spent multiple hours on the phone with United Healthcare because my dad was trying to get us new insurance. They denied us... SUCKAGE!
What I am looking forward to in 2010...- Passage of Healthcare reform.... something that might actually make a difference.
- Hopefully getting into nursing school
- Finding some nurses to shadow
- Re-losing the 20 pounds that I lost last year (that would take my BMI from overweight to normal :D)
- Getting my blood pressure under control
- Riding my new bicycle as much as possible (I live near the Katy Trail)
- Getting better grades next semester
